Who and What is the day spa market?

The spa market has been around for 1000’s of years and yet its only 60 or so years old in the US market. The original “day spa” hardly exists any more as our industry has melded into one big wellness tent. Under this umbrella are the following; spa, salon, resort, medical spa, esthetic, nutrition, chiropractic, naturopathy, weight loss, nursing, acupuncture, mobile facilities, hospitals and more.

We’ve been asked “does your association only support day spas?”

The answer is no! All are welcome in our associations and we hope you’ll join us and help “connect the community across the globe.”

A message from Allan Share

Our Association is built for the 21st century, we don’t fit the old mold of “support the end user and periodically ask vendors for participation.” The Spa Industry Association (SIA) is built on the following model; Support the industry by allowing members to access benefits at no charge and give Vendors a focused marketing plan that drives new business.

Our goal is to help Vendors create growth and deliver high ROI for your marketing dollars. With a lifetime of experience as a manufacturer and distributor in our industry, it’s clear to me that today’s marketing initiatives are based on “getting clients and placing orders.” Yes, branding is part of every program, but “ringing the till” trumps all!

Marketing with us is a unique proposition. Clients or prospects can find you 24/7, 365 on our site. Our team actively manages the program and its benefits to make sure you’re getting full value for your dollars invested.

The Day Spa Association (DSA) was formed in 1991 to support the growth of Day Spas in the Americas. Benefits to our industry included legislative help, a place for questions and answers and much, much more. The growth of the Spa market enhanced the DSA as “the association of the wellness industry” and DSA has endeavored to support all modalities in this arena for the over 30 years.

In 2000, about the time that Medical Spas were appearing in our communities, the International Medical Spa Association (IMSA) was formed to address the integration of Spa with Medicine. As our industry continues its move into wellness, the IMSA and DSA have merged together as well, yet still provide a multitude of benefits to its members.

The biggest benefit is not hard to quantify and here it is; we are the go-to stop for questions and answers. Most of the calls that come in to the SIA relate to “how do I find…?” or “where do I get information on…” and if we don’t have the answers, we know where to find the information you’re looking for.

In 2010, Allan Share, previous owner of New Life Systems and Lotus Touch, took over the helm as President. Allan’s 30 years of experience as a distributor and manufacturer, make him uniquely qualified to run the SIA. Allan sold his companies to a Private Equity Group in 2007, stayed on as an industry consultant for several years and now heads up the fastest growing, most innovative Associations in our industry. He speaks at many trade shows on topics ranging from “Superior Retail Selling” to “Trends in the Industry.” You can also find Allan and his team at the IECSC floor shows around the country!

The SIA is an incredible resource for connecting people in the spa, medical spa, and wellness communities.  This was a more inclusive name as our members come from all walks of the industry.

Members are interested in keeping up to date with the latest trends, products and services to improve their business.

Silent Survey – As an association, we are always engaged in Snap Shot Surveys. We also have the unique ability to do a survey on your behalf, without your company name being mentioned, which can help you gain insights from our membership on subjects you’d like to survey

Database Building – During the course of your consulting year, we will help add names to your database. We let our members know through our opt-in system, that we share their data with our clients.
