You’ve had a wonderful trip to the spa, and you’re now feeling relaxed and great. You’d like that comfortable sensation to last, but you know all too well that you’re about to head back into the stresses of your daily life. There are ways, though, that you can maintain your relaxation after a trip to the spa and make your life more peaceful and less stressful. Read on to learn about some of them.

Create a Home Oasis

You can continue your spa-induced relaxation more easily if you go home to your own personal oasis. You might set up a room dedicated to downtime, for instance. Choose a spare room or a part of a finished basement. Paint the walls a soothing color, and bring in a comfortable chair or two, a shelf for books and hobby supplies and a good light. You might also include a sound system for music. Alternatively, you could create an outdoor oasis on your porch or patio where you can enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. If your budget can support it, you might even add an affordable pool and spa to your yard to recreate your spa experience in your own home.

Learn Stress Management

Even if a home oasis isn’t practical for you at the moment, you can still maintain your relaxation by learning how to control your stress. Research some stress management techniques that might help. Guided breathing exercises work well for some people as does meditation. You might prefer music therapy. In that case, read about how to incorporate music into your day. You can build playlists for calm, energy and for simple enjoyment and then use them frequently in hours of work and leisure. Pretty soon, you might notice that the music automatically influences your mood, helping you take control of your stress. Whatever you choose, assemble a “toolbox” of techniques that you can turn to when the stress levels rise.

Get Organized

Another way to boost your relaxation and fight stress is to get organized. Purchase a paper planner, or download an app for your phone. Then make a commitment to using it every day to record your appointments and to-do list. Also, take some time to organize your computer files and your paper documents. With everything in its proper place and logically labeled, you’ll be able to find what you need quickly and easily. You should also tackle the larger job of organizing your home and workspace. While this might take a bit of time and effort, you’ll appreciate having all your possessions neatly stored away and accessible when you need them, and you’ll be more relaxed in a tidy environment.

Take Time for Yourself

When your post-spa relaxation starts to fade (or even before it does), you can charge it up again by taking some time for yourself. Schedule this if you must, but deliberately set aside a half-hour or an hour several times a week just for you. Read a favorite book, or indulge in a movie. Chat with a friend, or go shopping for an afternoon. Just do something you enjoy, and make a habit of it. You’ll start to look forward to these relaxing interludes in your daily routine, and they will provide a sense of calm even in the midst of your busy schedule.

Recharge Frequently

Finally, make an effort to recharge frequently by returning to your favorite spa for an afternoon refresher. Set aside a spa day each month or at least every other month, and keep those appointments. You’ll get another boost of relaxation that you can take home with you and use as a foundation to continue to build a more relaxing life.

Staying calm in the middle of your busy schedule isn’t easy. Spa days certainly help, but you can maintain that post-spa relaxation at home by creating your own oasis, managing your stress, getting organized, taking time for yourself and recharging. So get started, and look forward to a more relaxed life.
