Everyone wants to go viral, but consistency is key to any social media strategy. With consumers spending so much time on these platforms, a successful social presence is a great way to be discovered by potential new customers. Lay the groundwork to your strategy and get good at the basics outlined below to see your hard work pay off:

Establish the basics:

You want to start by answering some questions when creating a cohesive social media strategy:

  • What are you trying to achieve? (i.e. reach new customers, engage with existing customers, etc.)
  • Who is your target audience?
  • Which platforms are you going to use? (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  • What are you going to post and where are you going to get the content? (i.e. professional photoshoots, user generated content, etc.)

Answering these questions will lay out a clear direction for your social content strategy!

Content strategy:

Your content should be informative and engaging. Find different ways to let your followers know about the treatments you offer, promotions you are running, your spa and more. For instance, you could repost someone’s glowing skin post-facial or a beautiful image of your spa and massage tables.

Get some inspiration! Look at similar accounts in your industry and figure out what they are doing well and what you like about their content. Understanding what is already working for others can get the ideas flowing for your brand (but don’t copy!).

Consistency is key

Once you lay the foundation of your strategy, it is time to get tactical. The platforms you decide to use should be branded consistently using the same or similar imagery, bios, links to your website and more. Customers should be able to recognize your brand across the different platforms and make the connection!

Posting consistently is also important. Decide how many times a day or week you are going to post and when based on what works for you and when your followers are most active. Try to stick to it! Your followers will get used to your posting cadence and, best case scenario, will start to expect to see posts at specific times.

Interact with your community

Now that you are posting, you want to be sure to engage with your community and customers. Try to like or reply to any comments on your posts, direct messages or images you are tagged in. Interacting directly with your community will allow you to better understand what they need and are interested in knowing more about, which can inform your social content strategy.

Also, spend some time off your own posts and interact with adjacent brands. Commenting or interacting with other accounts can increase your exposure to new people, so fill your feed with other brands or accounts that you like to interact with or that can serve as inspiration.

Don’t be afraid to experiment

Once you have nailed the basics, it is time to get creative. Social media platforms are constantly rolling out new features and products, so don’t be afraid to try something new. Film a short video of one of your treatments and post it across your channels to see where it resonates best or  — get creative
