Everyone knows exercise is important, and most people know at least a few of the biggest benefits. It can help you lose weight, reduce your risk of certain illnesses, and even boost your mental health.

But, sometimes those things aren’t enough to give you the motivation to get physical.

If your running shoes have been gathering dust by the door or that bike in the basement is starting to look like an antique, you might just need a little help in making exercise more desirable.

We’ve got you covered! Keep these tips in mind to make your exercise routine fun, productive, and motivating, so you’ll want to work out every day.

Make it Convenient

The average person has about five hours of free time each day. That’s not much time to fill with things you want to do and people you want to see. So, it’s not surprising that exercise might not always be a priority in filling that time.

One way to make it a priority is by making it more convenient. Choose to workout first thing in the morning before you get the chance to get distracted by other things. Consider going to bed in your workout clothes or setting them out by your bed before you go to sleep. Take off any jewelry that could get in your way, or opt to switch to jewelry more suitable for an active lifestyle, like:

  • Waterproof watches
  • Leather bands
  • Sweatproof jewelry
  • Silicone rings/wedding bands

You can also make your workout more convenient by creating a shorter, more effective routine. No rule says you need to work out for an hour to get fit. In fact, many people swear by HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) routines, which are usually shorter in length but more difficult. A shorter HIIT routine can provide a great workout, and you’ll have some extra time to relax in your gym’s sauna afterward for a little rest and relaxation!

Find Something You Enjoy

One of the best ways to make exercise a daily habit is to do something you enjoy. Far too often, people think they have to stick to a certain routine just because of the results it’s supposed to bring. Exercise should be fun and a natural motivator. If you’re not a runner, don’t run. If cycling doesn’t appeal to you, don’t get on the bike.

Instead, try taking a dance class or playing a sport. You can also choose exercises based on your physical needs. If you tend to have sore muscles or weak knees, biking could be your perfect solution. If you deal with varicose veins, exercises that aren’t hard on your bones and joints – like swimming and walking – are often the best options.

Exercising with a friend or rewarding yourself are also great ways to stay motivated every day, giving you something to look forward to.

When you start exercising with the right perspective, it will become its own reward. It’s just a matter of finding the motivation to get started. Keep these tips in mind to make that easier, and exercising every day can become more desirable than you ever imagined.
