Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (March 10, 2025) – The National Association of Spa Franchises (NASF) is pleased to announce key updates that reflect the association’s ongoing commitment to supporting the massage therapy profession and its diverse community of employers.
NASF has opened up membership options for all massage employers. “As a founder of a non-franchised spa brand, I am thrilled to be included in the NASF and to have access to the EVS. These updates reflect NASF’s ongoing commitment to working together as a community to support the massage therapy profession,” added Alissa Bayer, founder of milk + honey spa, and a representative member. “Whether you are a small spa or a large franchise network, we want to ensure that NASF membership and all its benefits are accessible to every employer in our industry. This is a huge win for everyone—spa customers, massage therapists, and spa owners and operators alike.”
By broadening its membership options, NASF is also increasing access to its Employee Verification System (EVS), a tool that has greatly enhanced employers’ ability to verify the backgrounds of potential hires. Designed to protect the massage profession, the EVS has played a key role in improving safety within the industry. Now, it enables employers—from small spas and schools to large franchises—to easily confirm the employment history of their staff. While not a replacement for a National Background Check, EVS serves as a valuable addition to the hiring process, helping employers ensure the integrity of their workforce. “The Employee Verification System has proven to be a valuable resource for participating brands, helping them make more informed hiring decisions,” said Cindy Meiskin, President of NASF. “As we expand access to this tool, our goal is to ensure that all employers—from local spas to schools—can benefit from its advantages.”
