Running a spa centre undoubtedly is one of the best jobs – especially if you ask people who are in the business. They often say that there’s nothing better than smiles on their satisfied clients’ faces, and we completely agree with them. So, if you want to get into this industry, just keep on reading. Here are dos and don’ts of spa décor you need to know about, so check them out and learn how to decorate your facility like a true pro. Enjoy!

Do find a proper seating option

Your clients need to feel cozy and welcome the second they enter your spa centre, right? Well, the waiting room will be the first thing they’ll see, so try to live up to their expectations. Needless to say, your waiting room should be equipped with the comfiest seating out there. This is absolutely essential – even if your clients won’t be using them too often. Of course, you need to make sure that the chairs and couches in your waiting room perfectly match the overall aesthetic of your spa. Apart from the design, you should stay within the colour scheme, too. Also, add a lot of decorative cushions. These will make the seating more comfortable while adding a touch of colour at the same time!

Don’t use too strong scented candles

Even though scented candles are a huge plus in any spa centre, you must pay extra attention not to go overboard with them. No matter how welcome they are in such a setting, the truth is that many clients have too sensitive noses. Some of them will have heightened sensitivity to smells that can further aggravate their medical conditions, such as migraine. This is particularly true for chemical odours such as synthetic fragrances and perfumes that are often found in scented candles. So, to prevent that and make your clients feel comfortable, try not to use candles with too strong scents. Of course, if a client requires a specific scent as a part of their treatment, that’s completely fine. Just keep it as neutral as possible in other cases!

Do add enough greenery, plants, and flowers

Mixing in elements of nature is always a good idea – especially if we’re talking about a spa centre. The reasons for that are numerous, and the first one is that plants and flowers will complement every space and take it to a whole new level. For example, large plants should fill empty nooks of your waiting room and other rooms where treatments will take place. Also, use hanging plants to create dimension. Placing greenery at different levels will make the room seem bigger.  Apart from potted plants, you should opt for freshly picked flowers as well. These should be placed in big vases on the reception desk, so make sure to arrange flower delivery several times a week. Trust us when we say that this will make a huge difference in your spa centre!

Don’t go overboard with anything

Yes, we know that decorating your spa centre can be a quite challenging task – especially if this is your first time doing it. However, don’t be desperate and stick to the ‘less is more’ rule. And why do we say that? Well, we say it because a spa centre is a place where people come to relax and let go of their every day worries. The last thing they need is to be overwhelmed with the interior and everything they see in your facility. Even though deciding on your spa décor is very exciting, don’t get carried away. Too many accessories and decorative pieces will make your space look cluttered and everything but organized, which should be avoided at all costs. So, slow down a little bit and try not to go overboard with anything. The key to success lies in the minimalist approach to spa décor!

Do opt for the best possible lighting

Proper lighting is one of the most important elements when it comes to spa décor. It’s essential to choose it correctly simply because it’ll set the mood in your spa centre. Firstly, remember that bright clinical lights are a huge no-no here. These will contribute to a cold, almost unpleasant atmosphere in your facility, which is exactly what you should avoid. Instead, go for warm, muted lighting that’ll make your space feel very welcoming and inviting. Also, try to find a balance between dark and bright mode. It should be bright enough for your clients to read a magazine and dark enough for them to relax. Once you find a perfect balance, you’ll know that you did a great job with it!

As you can see, there are many things you should bear in mind when it comes to decorating your spa centre. If you want to do everything right, just stick to our tips and follow our guidelines. When you do that, you’ll see an instant improvement that’s completely worth all your money and effort!
