NEW PALTZ, NY (MARCH 2024) – Shannon Malave, a distinguished leader and visionary in the spa and wellness arena, has been named Spa Director at Mohonk Mountain House, the Hudson Valley’s most iconic resort. In her new role, Malave will lead the 30,000-square-foot spa’s operations, and guide 80 team members, leveraging her two decades of multifaceted expertise to enhance guest experiences and further Mohonk’s legacy as a premier destination for recreation and renewal of body, mind, and spirit.

With an impressive resume spanning over 20 years, Malave brings a wealth of experience and accomplishments to Mohonk Mountain House. Most notably, she served as the Corporate Director of Spas for Walt Disney World’s spas, salons, and fitness centers worldwide, where she spearheaded major renovation projects and led the transition of all spa, salon, and fitness centers to align with the company’s core values as it related to the wellness space. Her leadership roles have also included Director of Wellness at Avatar Holdings, and National Director of Skincare Education at Steiner Education Group. While with Steiner, she was an instructor for the Spa Business degree and skincare certification program. Her role as an international educator has positioned her as a knowledgeable resource for luxury spas around the world. Shannon’s tenure at Marriott International and Omni further solidified her reputation as a leader in the hospitality and spa industry.

Malave holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, licenses in Massage Therapy and Skincare/cosmetology, and is a certified Phlebotomist and Yoga Instructor. Her diverse skill set and passion for holistic wellness will undoubtedly assist her in elevating the legacy of Mohonk Mountain House as a pinnacle of spa and wellness excellence.
